Sunday, February 24, Imam Hendi, a respected Muslim cleric whom
we have been fortunate to meet and hear speak on several
occasions, is giving a presentation at St. Patrick's in
Cumberland. The Imam has been a world leader in bridging the
divide between the three Abrahamic religions as well as between
the east and west. We want to encourage your attendance and ask

EVENT: FSU Presents Imam Yahya
Hendi’s “Jews, Christians and Muslims: Cooperation or
Confrontation?” Release Date: 09/20/2004
Frostburg State University will host speaker Imam Yahya Hendi as
he presents his timely lecture “Jews, Christians and Muslims:
Cooperation or Confrontation?” on Monday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at
the Palace Theatre located on Main Street in Frostburg.
Hendi is the Muslim chaplain at Georgetown University, as well
as the Imam of the Islamic Society of Frederick, chaplain at the
National Naval Medical Center and spokesperson of the Islamic
Jurisprudence Council of North America. He also serves as an
adjunct faculty member at McDaniel College. Hendi has received
his master’s degree in comparative religions from Hartford
Seminary and is currently working on his Ph.D. in the same area.
Hendi is a well-respected religious speaker who strives to
connect persons of different religions and create a unity and
peace between all people. His mission through his lectures and
appearances is to foster an understanding of the Islamic
religion and work towards world peace. He speaks locally and
globally about issues related to Muslims and he works with
government officials, non-profit organizations and
inter-religious groups in order to share his message.
This lecture is open to the campus and the community. At 8 p.m.
there will be a refreshment period and a continued dialogue will
take place at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church located across
the street.
